TERMS & CONDITIONS

Effective Date: August 11, 2026
Last Updated: August 11, 2026

Welcome to Brotherhood Institute.

By accessing or using this website or Brotherhood HQ tools, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website or its tools.

1. Purpose of Brotherhood Institute

Brotherhood Institute provides educational information, resources, and self-help tools primarily concerning domestic violence, abusive relationships, safety, recovery, and related subjects.

Brotherhood Institute does not provide legal representation, medical treatment, mental-health treatment, emergency services, or individualized professional advice.

Please review our Website Disclaimer for additional information.

2. Brotherhood HQ Accounts

Certain tools require a Brotherhood HQ account.

You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and maintaining reasonable security over devices and accounts used to access Brotherhood HQ.

You may not intentionally access another person's account without authorization or attempt to bypass security measures protecting another user's information.

3. Private Tools

Brotherhood HQ includes private tools that allow users to record, organize, review, or reflect upon information they choose to provide.

These tools are intended for personal informational and documentation purposes.

Use of a Brotherhood HQ tool does not create an attorney-client, therapist-client, physician-patient, advocate-client, or other professional relationship with Brotherhood Institute.

4. Abuse Log

The Abuse Log allows users to create a chronological personal record of incidents and experiences.

Abuse Log entries cannot be individually edited or deleted through ordinary use of the tool. This design is intended to help preserve the integrity and continuity of records.

Users who wish to permanently delete their Abuse Log may use the designated deletion process, which includes identity verification and a 30-day protection period.

The existence of timestamps, encryption, access controls, exports, or other features does not guarantee that Abuse Log records will be accepted as evidence by a court, government agency, attorney, law-enforcement agency, or other organization.

Brotherhood Institute makes no representation concerning the legal admissibility, evidentiary weight, or outcome associated with any Abuse Log record.

5. Secure Access Links

Users may voluntarily create Secure Access Links that allow another person to view information made available through that feature.

You are responsible for deciding whom you trust with a Secure Access Link.

Do not publish Secure Access Links publicly or provide them to anyone you do not want accessing the information made available through the link.

Brotherhood Institute may revoke or invalidate access links when necessary for security, account deletion, system maintenance, or abuse prevention.

6. User Responsibility and Safety

You are responsible for determining whether accessing Brotherhood Institute is safe in your circumstances.

If you believe another person monitors your phone, computer, browser history, email, messages, accounts, or internet activity, consider using a safer device or account before accessing sensitive resources.

Brotherhood Institute cannot determine whether your device or network is being monitored.

7. Acceptable Use

You may not use Brotherhood Institute to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account or private records.
  • Circumvent authentication, encryption, access controls, or other security measures.
  • Introduce malware or intentionally interfere with website operation.
  • Use Secure Access Links to harass, threaten, exploit, or unlawfully expose another person.
  • Misrepresent Brotherhood Institute content or tools as professional certification, legal findings, medical diagnoses, or official government records.
  • Use the website in violation of applicable law.

We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the website, or its systems.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, original Brotherhood Institute text, graphics, branding, logos, designs, and software provided through the website are owned by Brotherhood Institute or used with appropriate permission.

You may use Brotherhood Institute resources for ordinary personal purposes.

You may not reproduce, republish, sell, commercially exploit, or represent Brotherhood Institute content as your own without permission, except where permitted by law.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

Brotherhood Institute may link to websites, products, organizations, professionals, donation platforms, or other resources operated by third parties.

A link does not guarantee or endorse every statement, service, policy, or action of the third party.

Brotherhood Institute is not responsible for independent third-party websites or services.

10. Donations

Brotherhood Institute may provide links to independent services such as GoFundMe or Ko-fi through which visitors can provide financial support.

Payments made through third-party platforms are processed under the applicable platform's own terms and policies.

Brotherhood Institute does not directly control those payment-processing systems.

11. Affiliate Links

Some pages may contain affiliate links.

Brotherhood Institute may receive a commission when a visitor makes a qualifying purchase through an affiliate link, including eligible links associated with the Amazon Associates Program.

An affiliate relationship does not increase the price paid by the visitor solely because the link is an affiliate link.

Affiliate relationships will not change our commitment to providing useful information to our audience.

12. Availability and Changes

We may modify, update, suspend, discontinue, or replace website content, tools, or features.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to Brotherhood Institute or Brotherhood HQ.

Maintenance, security incidents, hosting problems, software failures, third-party failures, or circumstances outside our control may temporarily affect availability.

13. No Guarantees

Brotherhood Institute does not guarantee any particular personal, relationship, medical, psychological, legal, immigration, financial, safety, or other outcome resulting from use of the website.

Information and tools are provided to help users learn, document, reflect, and make their own decisions.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Brotherhood Institute and its creators, contributors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the website, its content, or its tools.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

15. Privacy

Use of Brotherhood Institute is also subject to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Those policies explain how information and cookies are handled.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions when website functionality, policies, or legal requirements change.

Continued use of the website after revised terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated terms to the extent permitted by law.
